Almost two hours after the mobilization began, a man approached and tried to set himself on fire. He set his left arm on fire, before passers-by and police intervened and doused the flames with traditional Palestinian headscarves.
“I’m a journalist,” he shouted between two screams of pain, denouncing the “disinformation”.
The police later assured that his life was not in danger.
At New Yorkthousands of people marched in solidarity with the famous Times Squaresome holding photos of victims of Israeli military operations.
Among the protesters was Cornel Westhuman rights defender and independent candidate in the November 5 presidential election. He explained that he went as a sign of “solidarity” with the Palestinians who are undergoing “genocide”, adding that “the ethnic cleansing has not stopped getting worse for a year. We have to keep fighting it.”
