Chancellor Olaf Scholz will welcome US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to Berlin on Saturday, with the Middle East and Ukraine at the center of talks, German media reported, citing government sources.

After the meeting, the four leaders will go to the US base of Ramstein in Rhineland-Palatinate, where an expanded meeting of the countries of the Contact Group on Ukraine will be held, on the subject of military support of the Ukrainian armed forces, in the presence of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Ahead of the summit, the Ukrainian president called on his allies to “urgently” deliver new weapons.

In a video message, Mr Zelensky called for supplies to the front, equipment for soldiers and long-range weapons, while reiterating that his aim is to boost Ukrainian arms production to make the country the world’s leading arms maker.

“We invite our partners to define how they envision the end of this war, the place of Ukraine in the global security architecture and the steps to be taken together,” Volodymyr Zelensky said, adding that as part of the Ramstein meeting he would present the his “victory plan”, which he has already shared with the American president.
