Iran launches new military satellite – America suspicious

by

The Iran announced today that it has launched a new military satellite, at a time when negotiations in Vienna aimed at rescuing the international agreement on Iran’s nuclear program are at a critical stage.

“The second Iranian military satellite with the name Nour-2 “It was sent into space with the Cassette rocket belonging to the aerospace forces of the Revolutionary Guards and was successfully launched into orbit at an altitude of 500 kilometers”, the official broadcast Iranian news agency IRNA.

The Revolutionary Guards presented the Nour-2 as a “reconnaissance satellite,” according to a statement on their official Sepah News website.

In April 2020, they launched their first military satellite, Nour-1. For United Statesthis launch had proved that the Iranian space program was intended for military rather than commercial purposes.

Sepah News reported today that Nour-1 “is still active”. “Nur” means light in Persian.

Nour-2 is in orbit at an altitude of 500 km. Nour-1 was put into orbit at an altitude of 425 km above the Earth’s surface.

The US Armed Forces argue that the same ballistic technology used to put satellites into orbit could also allow Tehran to launch longer-range weapons, including possibly nuclear warheads.

THE Tehran denies US claims that its activity covers the development of ballistic missiles and says it has never sought to develop nuclear weapons.

The launch of the new satellite took place against the backdrop of optimistic statements about an impending agreement in the nuclear negotiations taking place in Vienna.

At stake is the return of USA in the international agreement concluded in 2015 Washington left it in 2018- and Tehran to return to fulfilling its commitments.
