Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has called for the rebuilding of Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip, adding that “encouraging the migration” of the Palestinian population from the enclave is “the most moral” solution to the current war.

“If we want to we can rebuild the settlements in the Gaza Strip,” the ultra-nationalist minister told a conference on the Gaza border organized by the pro-settlement group Nahala which encourages the promotion of Jewish settlement construction.

“We can (also) do something else – encourage immigration. The truth is that this is the most ethical and the most correct solution,” he continued. He noted, however, that this “should not be done by force” and that the residents of the Gaza Strip should be informed that Israel “gives them the option” to go to other countries.

“The Land of Israel is ours,” he said.

It is noted that Ben Gvir is known for his often extreme statements and actions. For example, last week British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said his government was considering sanctions against Ben Gvir and far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for their repugnant remarks.
