Tehran is not worried about a possible Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, underlined Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) in statements broadcast today by ISNA news agency.

“Our defenses are capable of neutralizing any military threat, including any attacks against our nuclear facilities,” Eslami said. If Israel launches an attack against such facilities, “Iran’s response will be overwhelming,” he warned.

Iran’s military infrastructure, nuclear facilities and oil industry are seen as “possible targets” of the retaliatory strike announced by Israel following the October 1 missile attack.

Analysts estimate that a possible attack on nuclear facilities could lead to further escalation and drag the US into the conflict, adding that any strikes on oil facilities could send energy prices soaring worldwide.
