At least 4 people were killed and 10 others were injured today by Russian strikes in eastern Ukraine, local authorities said.

The city of Kupyansk in northeastern Ukraine was hit by a thermobaric bomb, injuring 11 people, the governor of Kharkiv said in a Telegram post.

Later, a 73-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries in a hospital, Oleh Sinekhubov added. A two-story building was completely destroyed, as were dozens of stalls in an open-air market, while windows of houses were broken.

Kupyansk fell to Russian forces a few weeks after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, but was liberated in September of the same year.

In recent months, Moscow’s forces have been slowly advancing on the city and are said to have come to within 4 kilometers of its northernmost suburbs.

Three people were killed in a Russian strike near the strategic hub of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, regional governor Vadim Filaskin announced. Russian troops are steadily tightening the cordon around Pokrovsk, reaching within 8 kilometers of the city’s outskirts.

The general staff of the national defense of Ukraine reports that around Pokrovsk the most intense clashes on the entire eastern front are raging recently.
