Police are seeking information about a mother and her son who mysteriously disappeared eight years ago
British police launched a new appeal for witnesses today, eight years after a woman and her son disappeared after fleeing to France and have not been seen since.
According to police in Cleveland, northeast England, Sarah Sisson, 37, and Harvey Belshaw, 12, disappeared on October 8, 2016, when they took the ferry from Dover to Calais. Sisson was driving a black Renault Megane.
From that day on they never contacted their family again.
Sarah Sisson’s brother reported them missing on October 24, 2016.
The mother and child, originally from Vale Hill, near Middlesbrough, had links to France, Spain, Gibraltar and Germany, police said. For the past eight years, British police have been in contact with French authorities, examined CCTV footage and spoken to relatives and friends of the family, to no avail.
“Eight years on Sarah and Harvey’s family and friends have not known what happened and insist it was out of character for them not to contact anyone,” said Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth. Police are still studying “any new information.”
“I want to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who may have information, however trivial it may seem, as to the whereabouts of Sarah and Harvey. To appear and speak to us. It’s never too late to give information,” he added.
