It is unclear whether the statement refers to Egypt’s proposal for a two-day ceasefire in Gaza and an exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners
Its highest official Hamas stated that the organization is open in agreement with the Israelas talks aimed at ending the war and freeing hostages resume in Doha.
Husham Badran, a senior member of the Qatar-based Hamas politburo, said in a statement carried by the Shehab news agency that a deal was possible.
“Our demands are clear and known and an agreement can be reached, provided Netanyahu remains committed to what has already been agreed,” says Badran.
It is unclear whether Bhadran’s comments are a response to Egyptian proposal for two-day ceasefire in Gaza and the exchange of four Israeli hostages for some Palestinian prisoners, followed by 10 days of talks.
The Saudi news station Al Arabiya said earlier that Hamas was willing to accept the Egyptian proposal as long as it was incorporated into its July 2 demands for a hostage deal.
It also seeks guarantees that Israel will commit to making the Egyptian proposal part of a comprehensive deal.
Hamas sources also told the Saudi channel Asharq News that the organization preferred a comprehensive deal rather than a piecemeal one.
