The 53-year-old manager of the hotel in Amyntaio is being taken to the public prosecutor today, Monday Florinawhere 14 people were poisoned by a carbon monoxide leak, after midnight on Saturday.

A total of 9 of the visitors aged 20 to 44 were treated as a precaution at the Florina Hospital and the remaining 4 who were more serious at the Bodosakeio Hospital of Ptolemaida.

A man remains intubated in the Intensive Care Unit since yesterday. “His condition is considered serious and stable… We have to wait for time to pass,” said the commander of the 3rd Ministry of Health, Dimitris Tsalikakis.

There are varying scenarios as to what caused the gas leak. The possibility that the exhaust gas pipe from the boiler, which was placed low in the building, carried the monoxide from the ventilation system, is being investigated as one of the possible causes of the poisoning.

A week ago, the regional directorate of tourism of western Macedonia had imposed a fine of 10,000 euros for inaccurate and untrue information that had not been filled in the license file issued in 2017, but this information had nothing to do with the accident.

The hotel, which reopened fully renovated under new ownership on September 13, has now been sealed.
