Iranian authorities today executed German-Iranian dissident Jamshid Sarmad, who was arrested in 2020, the Judiciary News Agency announced.

“After the judicial process was followed and the final validation of the decision by the Supreme Court, the death sentence of Jamshid Sharmad (…) was carried out in the morning” reported Mizan Online.

Sharman was sentenced to death in 2023 by the Supreme Court for his involvement in a terrorist attack on a mosque in 2008 that killed 14 people.

When his arrest was announced in 2020, the Ministry of Intelligence described him as “the leader of the Todar terrorist group, which organized armed and terrorist acts in Iran from America. Sharman declared permanent residence in the US.

The little-known “Legislative Assembly of the Kingdom of Iran,” or “Todar,” is based in Los Angeles and says its goal is to restore the monarchy that was overthrown in the Islamic Revolution of 1979. It has its own radio and television stations abroad.
