The unprecedented invasion of frustrated and angry Trump voters on Capitol Hill in January 2021 – after the Republican candidate lost the presidency to Joe Biden, alleging election fraud and fraud – was written in black letters in US history.

In the USA, the electoral process has already begun amid a great climate of tension and polarization between the two candidates, Trump is already questioning the result

In the November 5th presidential election in the USA, the electoral process has already begun amid a great climate of tension and polarization between the two candidates while Trump has already spoken of “fraud” and new questioning of the result if he loses

The fear of a new “Capitol” is visible – so visible that two nights ago there was a preparedness exercise to evacuate the iconic building – temple of the US Republic, with the participation of 12 military helicopters.

Draconian security measures

In the run-up to the November 5th elections – and while the riots have already begun in polling stations – local officials in each state are implementing strict security measures to prevent serious incidents at polling centers and government buildings.

Indicative of the tense atmosphere is the incident in Florida, where an 18-year-old Trump supporter pulled out a machete during an argument with an elderly woman outside a polling station in the city of Neptune Beach.

The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have warned that “domestic violent extremists” could “promote narratives about the election process” that could incite voters to act violently.

The two agencies’ announcement cited as an example the two assassination attempts against former President Donald Trump.

So the heightened security measures already in place – in addition to constant police surveillance – have included drones, snipers, sniffer dogs and 24-hour armed security.

French Foreign Minister: “I hope the US elections will be peaceful… although I don’t think so”

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barot expressed his concern about incidents on the day of the elections in the USA.

Speaking to BFM TV, he said he hoped next week’s US presidential election “will be peaceful”, adding that “it is not certain that will happen”.

“I hope it will be done in a peaceful way, which doesn’t seem absolutely guaranteed to me,” Barro said, adding that “violence over the vote would be disastrous for democracy.”

The French Foreign Minister emphasized, however, that France will cooperate with whoever wins the elections, whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris.
