The first reaction from the Greek diaspora in America was broadcast on the main SKAI news bulletin, by Michalis Ignatiou from Washington, regarding Donald Trump’s racist comment about Giannis Antetokounmpo, a breath before the presidential elections on Tuesday, November 5.

In detail what Michalis Ignatiou mentioned:

One of the most important expatriate politicians, Mr Alexandros Giannoulias responded to the former president, he wrote: ‘I’m tired of Trump’s racist dog whistling, he doesn’t have a single value that Giannis and all Greeks have, namely hospitality, honor, freedom and democracy’. Anyway, my first thought was that this statement might have been rock bottom but since the election is on Tuesday I imagine Trump will surprise us again negatively with more racist attacks.

Also, to the question of whether he was heard by his expatriate fans, who I suspect may have the same position as Mr. Trump about Giannis, let me say that Antetokounmpo honors Greece in America, we see it every day and he is proud and feels Greek, he proves it with his actions. From then on, Mr. Trump no longer wants to hide that he is a racist, but no one expected that he would choose to hit in such an insidious way in his own city, an athlete, about whom everyone in America has the best words .».
