As the Italian press writes today, next week the transfer of migrants to the two closed centers that the government of Rome decided to create in the north will resume Albania.

Likely on Monday, the Italian Navy ship Libra is expected to head south of Lampedusa, in international territorial waters, to pick up migrants who (if deemed, under Italian law, to be from safe countries) will be transferred to the closed centers of Gyander and Shengin.

According to the newspaper La RepubblicaItalian interior ministry officials said efforts would be made to transport “at least 60 to 70 migrants”.

It is recalled that in the two specific centers, at this stage, there are no asylum seekers, after the Rome court refused to validate the mandatory stay of 12 people, coming from Egypt and Bangladesh.

The dispute of executive and judicial power over the whole matter, at Italyis expected to continue. Last week, a judge in Bologna appealed to the court of the European Union, with a request to decide whether the latest legislative decree of the Meloni government on the so-called “safe countries” is compatible with European law.
