Israel’s Ministry of Defense (IMOD) signed a major deal to acquire the next generation of F-15 fighter jets on Wednesday – the day of Trump’s US election victory – buying 25 advanced aircraft from Boeing.

“The $5.2 billion deal, part of a broader US aid package approved by the US administration and Congress earlier this year, includes an option for 25 additional aircraft,” the Israeli ministry said in a statement.

The ministry’s Director General, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, signed the procurement authorization during his visit to the United States last month, and the deal was finalized yesterday, following negotiations with Boeing, in cooperation with the Israeli Air Force.

The $5.2 billion deal, part of a broader US aid package approved by the US administration and Congress earlier this year, includes an option for 25 additional aircraft.

“The advantages of the new aircraft will allow the Israeli Air Force to maintain its strategic superiority in dealing with current and future challenges in the Middle East,” the statement said.

This procurement “marks an important milestone in the deepening of defense cooperation between Israel and the United States, reflecting their mutual commitment to regional security,” it added.

The agreement was finalized yesterday after negotiations between IMOD’s mission in the US and Boeing in cooperation with the Israeli Air Force.
IMOD Director General Major General (Res.) Eyal Zamir signed the procurement authorization during his visit to the United States last month.

Delivery of the F-15s will begin in 2031, with 4-6 aircraft being procured annually.
