A Greek living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, describes to SKAI the hellish night he lived, where the unprecedented and violent incidents took place with at least 5 injured and over 60 arrests.

“People were abandoning their cars in the middle of the road, sparklers going off, flash of light, until 2.30 in the evening it was happening.” It is the image that Stefanos Karamagiolis, a Greek who lives and works in the heart of the Dutch capital, saw from the balcony of his house, in the center of Amsterdam. He describes to SKAI, the “worst incidents”, as he says, that have happened in recent years in the city.

“It was five ten meters from the balcony, it was deafening, to say the least it shook us.”

Incidents related to what is happening in the Middle East have been frequent in recent weeks, following demonstrations held in Dub Square, according to the Greek worker. However, what happened after the Ajax – Maccabi Tel Aviv match was unprecedented.

“We are near Dam Square, it is a place for demonstrations and marches, we are used to such, but yesterday we did not expect it, we saw people running, there were intense firecrackers not like the ones I have experienced, like grenades.”

Amsterdam today resembles a fortress, with dozens of police officers patrolling the city center and beyond, while searches are underway for the perpetrators of the attack.

It is noted that Israel denounced the pogrom of Jews, while the Dutch government also condemned the attack.
