Several soldiers were injured due to Israeli airstrikes in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib in northwestern Syria in the early hours of Saturday, according to the Syrian news agency SANA.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that military facilities were hit.

“The Israeli army launched an air strike (…) targeting locations in the Aleppo and Idlib region, resulting in the injury of several soldiers and material damage,” according to SANA citing a military source.

Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes in Syria since the neighboring country’s civil war broke out 13 years ago, usually targeting Iranian-backed forces and Syrian army positions. He rarely comments on the strikes in Syria on a case-by-case basis, but has repeatedly stressed that he will not allow Iran – which backs President Bashar al-Assad’s government – to build up its presence in the country.
