After Hamas recently rejected the latest offer to reach a deal on the hostages, the US told Qatar that Hamas’ presence in Doha is no longer acceptable and called on the emirate to expel the Palestinian militant group.

The US request was made almost ten days ago and it appears that it has been accepted by Qatar.

According to CNN, citing American and Qatari officials, Qatar agreed to expel Hamas from the countryafter months of failed efforts to persuade the group – whose top leaders reside in the Qatari capital Doha – to accept a ceasefire and hostage-free deal in the Israel-Hamas war.

“After rejecting repeated offers to release the hostages, Hamas leaders should no longer be welcome in the capitals of any American partnera senior government official told CNN

However, a senior Hamas official said reports that Qatar was agreeing to expel the group’s officials from Doha were “baseless” and a “pressure tactic”, adding that similar claims had circulated in the past without being substantiated.
