Seven dead, including two girls, is the latest toll from yesterday’s Israeli raids on Tire in the south of the country, which the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced today.

“Raids by the Israeli enemy in the city of Tire killed seven people, including two young girls, and injured 46 others,” the ministry said, adding that remains of the dead had been found and would be “identified through DNA testing.”

The ministry’s initial tally yesterday Friday indicated three dead and 30 injured.

According to the official Lebanese news agency Ani, the raids targeted three buildings in the coastal city and caused significant damage to dozens of homes.

The agency also reported that an “enemy fighter jet” destroyed two houses in the southern city of Nabatieh.

Israel stepped up its air campaign in Lebanon in September and later sent in troops after a year of cross-border clashes.

Hezbollah opened the front against Israel in support of its ally Hamas, after the organization’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which triggered the war in Gaza.

More than 2,700 people have been killed in Lebanon since September 23, most of them civilians, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
