Ukrainian forces today pushed back Russian troops who tried to break through defense lines near the city of Kupyansk
Ukrainian forces today pushed back Russian troops who attempted to break through the defense lines near the city of Kupyansk, in the northeastern region of Kharkiv, as announced by the General Staff of the National Defense of Ukraine.
In a related post on Facebook, it is reported that Russian troops launched an attack in four waves, deploying armored vehicles and tanks.
“With skillful and decisive actions, our defenders stopped the enemy, destroying all his armored vehicles and killing many members of his forces,” the statement said. It is also pointed out that some Russian soldiers wore uniforms that resembled those of the Ukrainian army, a practice that Kiev denounced as a “war crime”.
The area was seized by the invaders a few weeks after the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine in February 2022, but was liberated five months later.
In recent weeks, Moscow’s forces have been slowly advancing towards Kupyansk, a strategically important rail hub. A second key target for Russian forces is Pokrovsk, further south in the Donetsk region.
