I think it makes sense when we give weapons that they should be able to hit not only the arrows, but also the archers who shoot them. But this is a national decision, the EU High Representative added
“The distance that the missiles can travel” for which the US government gave the green light, said today the High Representative of the EU, Z. Borel, shortly after the conclusion of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
“The Biden administration authorized (including Ukrainian forces) to use 300 km range missiles to strike Russian territory. It is not much, the distance these missiles can travel is not long, but this is the decision of the US government,” said Z. Borrell at the press conference.
“Why they took this decision now and not before the elections, I don’t know how to answer you,” admitted the outgoing head of European diplomacy. He mentioned that this issue was discussed in today’s Council. “I think it makes sense when we give weapons that they should be able to hit not only the arrows, but also the archers who shoot them. But this is a national decision,” he added. “Today there are no decisions on this issue, each country will take the decision it deems appropriate,” he noted.
“Many times we had to discuss for a very long time. We cannot claim to be a geopolitical power if it takes weeks or even months to reach an agreement. My last appeal to my colleagues is to be more united and make decisions faster,” added Z. Borel, who is to be replaced in December by former Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kalas.
