He used a legally owned weapon and killed himself during a police raid – A negotiator tried, for hours, to convince him to surrender
A family dinner ended in bloodshed on Sunday night in southwestern Poland.
A 32-year-old man shot and killed his parents and brother in the Namislov community. He then barged into the house, holding his brother’s partner and her children hostage – two girls aged 5 and 7, Polish media reported.
The woman managed to escape and called for help. The house was surrounded by strong police forces and a special negotiator tried, for hours, to convince the murderer to surrender.
At around 5 am, men of the special forces of the police were given the green light to raid the house. After they managed to save the children, they came face to face with the gunman, who, however, preferred to end his life to avoid arrest.
The Polish News Agency (PAP) reports that the killer used a weapon that he legally possessed. The authorities are conducting an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances of the massacre as well as the motive of the perpetrator.
