The Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as “false” Moscow’s claim that the German government closed the office of the Russian channel “Perwy Kanal” in Berlin.
“The Russian claims are false. The federal government has not closed any offices and Russian journalists can broadcast freely and unhindered in GermanyForeign Ministry spokesman Christian Wagner said when asked to comment on reports that Russian authorities had revoked the accreditation of a journalist and a technician from German public television channel ARD in Moscow in response to the Berlin station’s closure.
“If such a thing is true, we reject it in the most categorical way,” said Mr. Wagner and referred to the state of Berlin, which, he said, would be responsible if there was a problem with the residence permits of the Russian journalists.
“If one does not qualify for a residence permit, there is no point in working as a journalist. One must qualify“, he added.
