Ukraine’s military says airstrike alert declared across country over missile threat
Explosions in Kiev were announced by the Ukrainian authorities a while ago in the context of a mass attack that Ukraine seems to be receiving.
Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure is “under massive enemy attack”, the country’s energy minister said earlier, after an airstrike alert was declared across the country due to incoming missiles.
“Once again, the energy sector is under massive enemy attack. Attacks on energy facilities are taking place across Ukraine,” German Galushenko said in a Facebook post titled “Terror,” adding that the operator of the national electricity grid “immediately carried out emergency blackouts.”
Ukraine’s military says an airstrike alert has been declared across the country due to a missile threat, citing incoming missiles targeting several areas.
“An airstrike alert has been declared across the territory of Ukraine due to a missile threat,” the Ukrainian air force said on Telegram, among other things, adding to other messages that missiles were detected heading for the Mykolayiv, Kirovograd and Odesa regions.
On Tuesday, Russia threatened “retaliation” for Ukrainian attacks with US-made ATACMS missiles on Russian territory over the past 24 hours.
Russia has been hammering Ukraine, including political infrastructure, since launching its invasion of the country in February 2022 and has stepped up its raids as winter approaches, specifically targeting energy infrastructure.
Moscow launched new nuclear threats on Wednesday as the war in Ukraine enters a critical phase. Russia is continuing work to put the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile – known as Satan 2, part of its strategic nuclear arsenal – into combat service, state news agency TASS reported.
