U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Russia had asked the China military equipment to assist in its invasion.

The Kremlin also said the United States and the European Union were trying to “entice” Russia to attack large population centers in Ukraine, adding that they saw such behavior as a “challenge”.

In fact, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, warned Beijing that it will face “absolute certainty” consequences if it helps Moscow avoid heavy sanctions for the war in Ukraine.

For its part, China reacted angrily with the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman replying that “lately the US has been constantly spreading false news against China.”
