Double success for Greece at World Series

Ideally, the 4th stop of the World Series Beach Wrestling was completed in Katerini.

The world’s leading athletes offered a great spectacle to the world and Greece won two medals. Katerina Vekri at 50k. won the silver medal, while Stephanie Zachila at + 70k. won the bronze medal. At the same time, our country had two great success, as Dimitra Androutsou and Katerina Pitsiava took 4th place, while Nikos Varkas reached the quarter -finals.

Katerina Vekri was the pleasant surprise of the event as she reached the big final. After completing the group, the Greek champion qualified for the semifinals. There she faced American Gomes. Despite being 2-0 back in the score, he managed to turn the match and qualify by winning 3-2. In the big final, Vekri faced Ukrainian Liasenko and despite her good effort she lost 2-0, winning the silver medal.

Stefania Zachila at +70k. As well as Katerina Pitsiava made great appearances and qualified for the semifinals. Zachila was defeated by Pasicuk (Ukraine) and Pitsiava from Konstantinov (Ukraine). In vain the two top Greek women were faced with the small final. After a shocking match, Zachila dominated 1-0 and won the bronze medal.

Greece has completed three major events, as the U17 and U20 World Championships had been preceded by the World Series.
