A Downing Street spokesman acknowledged that the British government was considering a proposal by organizations, including upgrade Minister Michael Gove, to use the mansions of Russian oligarchs, who had been frozen to house Ukrainians.

“It simply came to our notice then. “We are working to identify the proper use of the confiscated properties, while their owners are subject to sanctions,” the spokesman said.

He noted, however, that in order to allow refugees to settle on these properties, the law would have to be changed.

The question was asked to the representative after the occupation carried out shortly after midnight on Sunday by five members of an anarchist group in a luxury residence that is believed to belong to the Russian oligarch under sanctions. Oleg Deripaska in central London.

The squatters hung the Ukrainian flag and banner from a window of the house, one of which read: “This property has been released.”

Shortly after noon, police with shields stormed the building and began removing the squatters.
