The statements of high-ranking persons in Europe about a possible war in the next few years are increasing. After NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who referred to a war coming in 4 or 5 yearsthe baton was taken over by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who declared that German forces must be ready for a war.

In an interview he gave, Boris Pistorius referred to defense spending – an issue that Donald Trump also touched upon, calling for an increase in the rate to 5% of GDP for NATO countries – saying that it should indeed be increased, as conditions require it which have been formed, especially with the war waged by Vladimir Putin in Ukraine.

“We need a defense budget of at least 80 billion and not from 2028 onwards to meet the demands we have because of the tightening security situation,” Pistorius said, stressing that the Russian president has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine for nearly three years, and has threatened to attack allies who support Kiev in its attempt to defend itself.

“If Putin attacks, we must be able to wage war,” he said.

The NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, is on the same wavelength, who, in addition to the “bombshell” declaration of a generalized war “which is coming in 4 or 5 years”, is putting pressure on the member states of the Alliance in order to to increase the percentage of defense spending above the 2% of GDP set in the statute to date.

THE Donald Trumpwith his statements, sent a clear message to Europe, speaking of 5% of the GDP as defense spending, causing, in view of the assumption of his presidential duties next month in the USA, suffocating pressure on the leaders of the European states.

The German Minister of Defense, in light of the climate that has been formed based on the developments on the international geopolitical front, declares that he is strongly opposed to the debate on fiscal adjustment and strict adherence to the debt brake. “If we finance the necessary expenses for our defense from the regular budget, this strangles the state’s ability to act, endangers social security and thus strengthens extremist parties,” he pointed out.

Pistorius also favored Germany’s participation in a European effort to send peacekeepers to Ukraine, but stressed that such a plan could only be implemented once the war is over.
