The appointment of expatriate Michael Kratsios to the position of Director of the Policy Office for Science and Technology in White House (OSTP) announced US President-elect Donald Trump.

“Michael Kratsios will be the new director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and assistant to the president for science and technology issues. In my first term, Michael was unanimously confirmed by the Senate as Chief Technology Officer of the United States in the White House. He also served as the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering at the Pentagon and received the Department of Defense’s Distinguished Public Service Medal. He graduated from Princeton and is a distinguished fellow at Stanford University,” Donald Trump said in a post.

For his part, Michael Kratsios thanked the new president for the confidence he showed in his person for the second time. As he pointed out, “to ensure our nation’s prosperity and security, we must unleash scientific breakthroughs and ensure America’s technological dominance. Now we have the president to make it happen. A golden age for American innovation lies ahead.”
