Iran has called “absurd and ridiculous” claims by investigators in Sweden and Belgium that it recruited children to attack Israeli targets in their countries, Bloomberg reported.

Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said the allegations were “absurd, shameful and immoral,” according to the country’s state news agency.

It is recalled that according to Swedish police reports, a 15-year-old boy was arrested earlier this year when he tried to take a taxi to the Israeli embassy while he was in possession of a loaded gun. Brussels security services also reported in May that they had spotted children as young as 14 planning an attack on the Israeli mission in the area.

Both countries have argued that Iran-linked actors are behind the incidents and that they are part of a new trend. The incidents come as Israel’s war against Iran-backed groups in the Middle East continues with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza significantly weakened.
