Israel’s ambassador to the UN today issued a “final warning” to Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels to stop missile attacks on his country, warning that they risk the same fate as Israel. Palestinian Hamas, Lebanese Hezbollah and deposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

He also warned Iran that Israel has the ability to strike any target anywhere in the Middle East, stressing that attacks by Tehran’s proxies will not be tolerated.

The Houthis have repeatedly launched missile and drone attacks against Israel, expressing solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza war.

Addressing the Houthis, Israel’s UN ambassador Danny Danon told a Security Council meeting: “Perhaps you have not noticed what has happened in the Middle East over the past year. So let me remind you what happened to Hamas, Hezbollah, Assad, everyone who tried to destroy us. This is your last warning. This is not a threat, but a promise. You will have the same sad fate.”

Speaking earlier to journalists, Danon emphasized that “Israel will defend its people. If 2,000 kilometers is not enough to keep our children away from terrorism, then I can assure you it will not be enough to keep our forces away.”

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israeli attacks on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen would not be the last.

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said he was preparing to board a plane at Sana’a airport when the Yemeni capital was hit by an Israeli attack, in which a crew member was injured.
