Although miles away from the UK, Elon Musk seems to want to bridge the gap by scathingly criticizing the British government once again. What sparked the latest row was the world’s richest man’s statement that “very few businesses would be willing to invest in the UK under this government”.

This statement was a response to Scottish MPs, following their request to Musk to open a large Tesla factory in the country, the electric car company he owns.

The answer came just a few hours ago from Number 10 and the official press representative of British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

“Although we do not respond to individual comments… the government has a development policy”

In fact, the statement was not long and specifically said: “I don’t want to comment on individual comments, but if one looks at what has been done since the election and then you will see an additional 63 billion in investment after and from the investment conference. It will see the Government respond to some of the main concerns of UK business which is the lack of stability. And the government restored this stability both politically and economically”, while finally adding that “the government openly has a pro-growth and business policy, without being ashamed”

It is recalled that at the investment conference, which was mentioned in the statement, Musk had not received an invitation after his comments about the summer unrest from far-right organizations across the country and declaring that “civil war in the United Kingdom is inevitable”.

The issue didn’t stop there as Musk said at the time that “I don’t think anyone would want to go to the UK which releases convicted pedophiles to jail people who have just posted on social media”. In fact, during the summer riots, he was accused of fake news such as the tweet of a well-known far-right activist in the country, Stephen Waxley Lennon, also known as Tommy Robinson, but also for republishing a fake Daily Telegraph headline that said the rioters protesters would be sent to Falklands detention camps. It is important to mention that Musk was officially accused of market manipulation regarding bitcoin as he encouraged people to invest in this new electronic currency. Although he was acquitted, Musk’s strong statements continue to concern.

Attempt to change the government in London too?

The dispute he has with the six-month-old Labor government in the country is now clear. The close ally of Donald Trump, who contributed to the re-election of the controversial American president according to recent rumors and what Nigel Farage himself stated in an interview, want him to consider making a multi-million donation to populist Reform UK party.

However, the Labor government appears to be aiming to limit political donations and tighten controls on foreign-owned companies in an attempt to reduce their influence.
