The actions were designed around eight cross-cutting issues and six thematic areas, such as participation, media coverage and leadership.

Commissioner Gabriel said: “As a Union, we are working hard to ensure that everyone can make the most of whatever they decide to do, regardless of their gender or gender. Sport is no exception. “I welcome the report, which is a valuable contribution to the political debate, and call on all stakeholders in the field of sport to use it as a practical tool for achieving better gender equality in sport.”

The members of the high-level team, which consists of former high-level athletes, politicians, members of European and international sports federations, as well as distinguished academics, worked together to make recommendations and address issues related to the participation of girls and women in sport. , women coaches, women’s representation in decision-making processes, media coverage, and gender-based violence. Based on these recommendations, the Commission proposed various actions, such as a special European Conference on Gender Equality in Sport and a BeEqual Prize for the Promotion of Gender Equality.
