Russia’s General Prosecutor’s Office recognized the Independent Institute of Philosophy (Institut de Philosophie Indépendante) founded in Paris as an unwanted organization.

“In order to join the so -called Institute’s community, the scientists of the humanities must be opponents of the Special Military Operation” (ie the invasion of the Ukraine)the prosecution argues, noting that the Institute is organizing “Conferences in which representatives of the academic community speak with Russian and anti -Russian ideas and opinions

The website of the Independent Institute of Philosophy states that this International Association of Humanities Sciences was founded in November 2022 (the General Prosecutor’s Office writes for 2023) by “Russian philosophers who abandoned the Russian Federation over disagreement with the policy of Russian leadership, which led to humanitarian disaster as a result of its military attack on Ukraine“. The union mission describes “the promotion of the development of free philosophical thought in Russian” and one of its goals is “To help scientists in the humanities who have migrated and continue to leave Russia to remain in the profession” “The Union focuses on collaborating with foreign colleagues and is designed to facilitate the integration of scientists who have left Russia in international scientific programs, “according to the website of the Institute, involving scientists living in various countries. At the same time, the site says the organization “does not set political goals and does not participate in political propaganda

More than 100 people are members of the Union, including Julia Cineokaya, a non -fellow member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who left for France after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and was included in the register of “foreign agents” by the Russian authorities.
