Twelve to fourteen thousand Russian special forces soldiers have surrounded Mariupol, while over 2,400 civilians have lost their lives in the clashes, according to the city council. In the besieged city, according to local authorities, there are two mass graves.
“As of today, there are about 12,000 to 14,000 Russian soldiers around the city – these are their elite units. “For the last three days, 25 planes a day were coming from Sevastopol and dropping bombs on Mariupol, destroying it completely, forcing the city to surrender,” said Sergei Taruta, an MP.
The residents who remain in Mariupol are obliged to live in horrible conditions, as for 13 days it is without electricity, gas or water, with the temperature dropping at night at -5 degrees Celsius. It is estimated that 400,000 people remain in the city, while on March 14, 160 vehicles managed to escape.
Russian forces appear to have bombed a theater where civilians had taken refuge in the city. The deputy mayor said there were 1,000 to 1,200 people inside the building. Moscow denied the bombing of the theater. “The invaders destroyed the Drama Theater. Building where more than a thousand people had found refuge. “We will never forgive it,” the Mariupol municipality said via Telegram.
