This dialogue marks the launch of a collaborative and inclusive process aimed at tackling the critical challenges facing the sector and ensuring its continued success
President von der Laen today convened key leaders of European industry, social partners and interested parties to launch a strategic dialogue on the future of the European automotive industry.
This dialogue marks the launch of a collaborative and inclusive process aimed at tackling the critical challenges facing the sector and ensuring its continued success, as it is a significant driving force in the European economy.
The President of the Commission, Mr. Ursula von der Layen, said: “The European automaker is at a focal point, and we recognize the challenges it faces. That is why we are acting rapidly to deal with them. The fundamental question we need to answer together is what else we can do to release the innovative power of our companies and to ensure a strong and sustainable automotive industry. Today we are launching a dialogue that will help us face future challenges. The result of this dialogue will be a comprehensive action plan, which we will present on March 5th. This action plan will chart a clear course to ensure that our industry can thrive in Europe and be competitive worldwide. “
Sustainable Transport and Tourism Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas said: “The European automaker is a key pillar of the European economy. The sector is now in the midst of major structural changes. I am very pleased to be starting today with the dialogue with the basic parties. This dialogue is very important for the development of the EU’s industrial action plan for the automotive sector, which I will present in early 2025. ”
