The UN Security Council will hold an extraordinary meeting on Thursday at 9 p.m. (Greek time) to examine the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.
The meeting requested by the United States, Albania, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland and Norway, according to a tweet from Norway’s mission to the UN in New York.
The UN Office for Political and Peace Affairs, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the World Health Organization will report on the situation before the start of the summit, the Norwegian delegation said on Twitter.
An agreement with Russia to open nine evacuation corridors, including from the besieged city of Mariupol, was announced by Kyiv on Thursday, according to CNN.
