Iran’s foreign policy is guided by dignity, wisdom and interest, a government spokesman said today in response to Trump
Its foreign policy Iran He is guided by dignity, wisdom and interest, a government spokesman said today in response to the US president Donald Trump who reiterated Tuesday that he wants to exert “maximum pressure” in Tehran.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakzi said US concerns about the possibility of Tehran to obtain a nuclear weapon is not a complex issue. He also estimated that he could be resolved given Iran’s opposition to weapons of mass destruction.
Concerning the policy of the “maximum pressure” that Trump has reinstated, Araci noted that he would fail.
“I believe that exercising maximum pressure is a failed experience and its reinstatement will be again to fail,” the Iranian minister said.
“Our foreign policy is always guided by the following principles: the dignity of our people and our country, wisdom and interest. This applies to our relations with other countries, “Fatemeh Mohazerani said during a press conference.
“Wisdom means seeing what is happening behind the stage and properly understanding what is going on,” he added.
Yesterday, Trump reinstated his policy of “maximum pressure” in Iran, which aims, among other things, to reduce Tehran’s oil exports to zero in order to prevent it from gaining a nuclear weapon.
While signing a memorandum on imposing new sanctions on Iran, the US president described it as harsh and said he hesitated before taking these measures.
“I’m not glad to do it, but I had no choice because we have to look strong,” he explained.
At the same time, Trump pointed out that he would like to talk to Massoud Pezkian’s Iranian counterpart to try to persuade Tehran to abandon his nuclear weapon efforts.
“It is very simple for me: Iran cannot get a nuclear weapon,” the US president said. When asked how close Tehran is to acquire such a weapon, the Republican replied: “It’s very close.”
