The German Chancellor Altf Saltz criticized the plan of US President Donald Trump to connect the continuation of US military aid to the Ukraine With guaranteed access to its raw materials, including rare land, according to Bloomberg.

In an interview with Redakationsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) published on Saturday, Saltz said that with Ukraine being attacked by Russia, Germany is standing by the nation, without expecting profits later. “This should be everyone’s attitude,” he added.

The way Ukraine will be supported in its defense against Russia is likely to be one of the key issues of the forthcoming Munich Conference on Security on February 14, just over a week before the war marks three years.

While NATO European countries hope for continuing US military support, the Trump government is expected to present a long -awaited plan to end the war, according to an international agency citing anonymous sources.

It is noted that Saltz is facing a possible defeat in Germany’s early elections on February 23. His Social Democrats garner 15% in the latest poll, while Germany’s conservative opposition under Friedrich Mertz today accounts for 30%.
