A very strong earthquake of 7, 6 Richter occurred at about 4 in the early morning of Greece in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, at a relatively small focal depth, which was 10 kilometers in the first estimates.

Immediately a tsunami warning was issued up to 3 meters for Cuba and all the Caribbean States, as well as the northern Honduras and the American regions of Puerto Rico and the virgin islands.

The warning – which came a short time later – also concerned Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica, Haiti, Bahamas, Belize, Panama, Nicaragua and Guatemala.

This is the strongest earthquake in the area since 2021, when a 7.2 -magnitude earthquake hit Haiti, with at least 2,248 dead.
