More than 800 earthquakes over 3 Richter from February 1 – Safe schools in Santorini and Amorgos
Seismic vibrations in the Cyclades continue, though with less intensity.
The largest earthquake, 4.1 Richter, occurred at 3:35am, 26 kilometers northwest of Anafi.
Eight smaller seismic sized vibrations 3 as 3.8 Richter were marked within half an hour, by the 4:30 as to 5 at dawn Sunday in the maritime area between Santorini and Amorgos.
Safe schools in Santorini and Amorgos
In the meantime, the technical steps have been completed in the buildings of the Santorini and Amorgos school units, judging them safe.
However, according to the authorities’ recommendations, schools will remain closed until Friday, February 14, 2025 in Thira, Ios, Anafi and Amorgos.
Stable Seismic Sequence – extended measures
As stated by the members of the two committees who met yesterday, the seismic sequence in the Anydros marine area between Thira and Amorgos remains stable, with more than 800 earthquakes from February 1, with a size of over 3.0 (and with a maximum recorded size M 5.2 ).
In terms of current seismic activity in the island region Hostel is due to submarine rifts with a b-ND address and not related to volcanic activity of the burnt and the submarine volcano of Columbus.
