California is preparing to suffer the most powerful storm of winter, which fears that floods and landslides will hit areas scanned by fires in January around Los Angeles.

As of today as tomorrow Friday, in the south of the state, precipitations are expected up to 15cm in places, according to the US Meteorological Service (NWS).

Provision that is upset by the principles of the American big city, still struggling to heal the wounds left behind by the fires that cost life to at least thirty people last month.

“This is a strong storm, definitely the most powerful of the current winter season”warned the Ryan Kitel, NWS meteorologist, during a press conference yesterday Tuesday. “There is a high risk of flooding, especially on and around roads and urban zones, as well as a significant risk of torrents that will drag debris.”

Authorities recommended to the Californians living in or near firefighters to be ready to get away with hastened. As the soil is much more susceptible to the fires, the waters can flow faster and streams may form and cause landslides.

“Our services in the municipality are in alert state”noted by the mayor of Los Angeles, the Caren Bas.

Municipal officials placed thousands of sandy beams and set up dams using concrete pieces in recent weeks to limit soil erosion, he reminded him.

The fires caused extensive disasters in the city’s suburbs, especially in the community Pacifik Palisadeswealthy district on hills that oversee the big city. In the bottom of the areas there it is considered that a threat is raised in the event of heavy rainfall.

The community Altandinaanother suburb that suffered a heavy blow, is also framed by hills and mountains.

The storm is expected to reach the climax tomorrow Thursday, according to NWS.

“We recommend recommending all citizens to stay away from roads as much as possible (tomorrow) Thursday and Thursday night to Friday”Mr Kitel noted.

“We are certainly worried about the (pasifik) Palisids and the firefighters, but all Los Angeles must be worried about the rain and its consequences,” Mrs Bas.

As is often the case in California, the storm is due to what meteorologists call ‘Atmospheric River’, Giant rain corridor carrying vaporized water stored in the tropics around Hawaii.

The storm, however, is expected with some residents, as by early February, there were remarkable rainfall to be recorded in the southern part of the Golden State for eight months.
