Response from Jerusalem

The departure of Israeli troops from South Lebanon today (18/2), the last day of the truce between Israel and Hezbollah, is underway early in the morning. At the same time, the regular Lebanese army regains control of the Shiite border, just as the agreement reached by the active intervention of the United States and France. Already in the early hours of the morning there has been an increased flow of locals, who, returning to their homes, find how difficult it will be to build their lives from the beginning, with the vast majority of houses and public infrastructure to have been destroyed as a destroyed. The result of the heavy clashes of the Israeli army and the Hezbollah armed forces since October 2023.

Already in the first twenty -four hours of assumption by President Donald Trump in the US, the Israeli side tried to extend the power of the truce in South Lebanon for at least ten days. However, Israeli demands were not accepted by the White House, mainly due to the ‘satisfactory writing samples’ of the new Lebanese government under Joseph Aun and the obedient attitude that kept the recommendations of the new Special Envoy of Washington. On the other hand, however, the consideration received by the Netanyahu government is the preservation of five advanced Israeli army imprisons within the Lebanese territory, after specific points of “strategic importance” were selected, as government circles point out in Jerusalem.

Aim to prevent rocket attacks

Obviously, having been taught by the long -term preservation of the so -called “security belt” in the South Lebanon from the mid -1980s until its abolition and withdrawal of their troops in 2000, the Israelis preferred to maintain on -site presence in the present day. Lebanon, in order to minimize any direct contact of their troops with the local population. The outposts – two of which are at an altitude of 800 and 900 meters – have sole purpose on the one hand to oversee whether the regular Lebanese Army will regain control of southern Lebanon and on the other hand to observe whether Hezbollah will try to reconstitute them her forces and repeat her attacks with rockets, rockets and drones against specific border Israeli settlements and town.

By this logic, Israel installed the Lebanese border with the following five outposts: at Lamounne (just opposite the Israeli settlement of Slomi), in Jabal-Blat (opposite the settlements of Stoula and Zirit), in Zal. Opposite the settlements of Avivim and Malkia), in a mountainous area between the Lebanese villages Markaba and Houla (opposite the Israeli settlement of Margaliot) and, finally, on Hamamis Hill (just opposite the Israeli town).

Indeed, government circles in Jerusalem point out that the stay of the five advanced prisoners within the Lebanese border “will be maintained for as long as the Israeli government decides.” But on the other hand-and although Israel was not going to accept it under other circumstances-it seems that the Israeli army is called upon to retire from the controversial dominance of Jabal Rouo (or “Har-Dov”, as it is called in Hebrew).

Interesting is the part of the Lebanese-style portion with indirect criticisms against the Aun government, as the stay of the five Israeli advanced prisoners appears as a “out-of-frame settlement”, which is allegedly gained American-French approval.

Information on American ultimatum

A particular sense, however, is causing additional information published in its main article by the broad circulation of the Lebanese al-Luaaa newspaper, which argues that the White House has put a one-month ultimatum in the Lebanese government, so that the country’s regular army can fully regain the control of the whole Lebanese territory. In addition, according to the same source, the Lebanese army is called upon to dismantle and completely disarmament of all the militia – with the priority of the disarmament of Hezbollah – and the seizure of illegal weapons in Palestinian refugee camps. In fact, according to the same sources, if the Beirut government does not effectively respond to these actions, the Trump governance warns that it will address the UN Security Council in order for Lebanon to be put under committees, resulting in an international dispatch of an international dispatch. Forces that will be called upon to apply the Council of Security 1559/2004 and 1701/2006.

It is worth noting that, at least so far, this journalistic leak has not been commented or disproved by the Lebanese government, but it was broadcast this morning without commentary on the state Israeli radio.
