The UN General Assembly approved on Monday the resolution drawn up by Ukraine and its European allies on the third anniversary of the Russian invasion with 93 votes in favor, while 65 states abstained and 18 voted against.
The General Assembly also adopted all European amendments to the US resolution while rejecting the corresponding Russian to the American.
The UN General Assembly also voted in favor of the amended decision drawn up by the United States and supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in the context of the ongoing conflict with Russia.
The United States was forced to abstain from the vote of the resolution they had drawn up, after the 193 -member body approved amendments proposed European states.
Amendments to the US resolution included the addition of reports to Russia’s large -scale invasion of Ukraine, as well as a fair, enduring and total peace, according to the UN founding map. In addition, the resolution reaffirms UN support for UN sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.
The amended resolution, originally drafted by the US, received 93 votes in favor, while 73 states abstained and eight voted against.
The US presented its text on Friday, causing a confrontation with Ukraine and its European allies, who for a month negotiated their own resolution.
