Housing, employment and compensation for those displaced by the war – Ukraine’s plan

by

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday announced aid to Ukrainians displaced by the Russian invasion.

Speaking in a videotaped message, Zelensky said the country’s ministers were developing a program to support people who were forced to flee or lose their homes due to the war.

The plan will:

  • Help the displaced find work in places where they are currently, “so that each of our people, each of our families has the foundation for life.”
  • It provides housing for the displaced and organizes efforts to rebuild damaged homes as soon as the war is over.
  • Provides support to families housing people who have left the occupied territories or areas where fighting is ongoing. “At the very least, they will be reimbursed for the utility costs associated with relocating the relocated,” Zelensky said.

Zelensky added that a coordination center has been set up to manage humanitarian aid deliveries to Ukraine and that the head of the president’s office has consulted with ambassadors to increase those deliveries.
