A wave of public support for Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski was manifested by European leaders after his strong confrontation with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who spoke by the Ukrainian president by phone, stressed that Russia is the attacker and the Ukrainians the defenders, “sending a strong message of support to Kiev. “We have to respect those who fight from the beginning,” he said from Portugal.
Immediate was the reaction of the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, who also expressed his solidarity in Ukraine, writing on social media: “Ukraine, Spain is with you.”

European Union’s foreign policy leader Kaya Calla said that it has become clear that “the free world needs a new leader” following US President Donald Trump’s clash with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski.
“Ukraine is Europe! We stand by Ukraine,” Callas said in a post on social media.
“We will strengthen our support in Ukraine so that they can continue to counterattack (against) the attacker,” he added. “Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It is up to us, the Europeans, to respond to this challenge.”
