As the head of US diplomacy noted, the two ministers discussed Greece’s leadership role in security and energy in the Eastern Mediterranean and prospects for future cooperation.
According to diplomatic sources, both ministers pointed out the strategic nature of bilateral relations. In this light, they agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, economy, trade and tourism.
The debate also turned to the issues of the Middle East, with the Greek Foreign Minister having the opportunity to inform his recent tour and visit to Syria. In this context, Greece’s role was emphasized as a reliable partner, which is able to maintain a strategic relationship with Israel and excellent relations with all countries of the Arab world.
In addition, the two ministers exchanged views on enhancing cooperation on regional interest, immigration and artificial intelligence, while also talking about the future of transatlantic relations.
Finally, Mr Gerapetritis referred to the dynamic presence of the Greek homogeneity in the US, which he described as a link between the two countries.
