Response from London

Undoubtedly today London is hosting a crucial conference for both the Ukrainian War and Security, especially with what has taken place in recent days on the other side of the Atlantic.

The day even started quite difficult for the British prime minister after an interview with the BBC. The issue that monopolized the discussion was, of course, Donald Trump. The Trump -Zelenski meeting on Friday at the Oval Office has enraged Ukraine’s ardent allies while at the same time creating insecurity in the Ukrainian outcome and in peace.

“I trust Trump, I don’t trust Putin”

Britain was therefore called upon to respond to Trump’s stance after being a link between the United States and Europe. British Prime Minister Kir Starmer’s diplomatic stance was clear. “No one wants to see this,” he repeatedly said of the meeting of an American and Ukrainian president, admitting that he felt “uncomfortable” seeing her.

But he went on to say that, “what I thought right to do is pick up sleeves and contact both President Trump and Zelenski and Macron” (…) “I think we are in the right direction,” he said.

Indeed, attempting to calm down the concern worldwide, in particular, for the next Trump moves, he assured that Trump “wants a constant and permanent peace in Ukraine and we must focus on it.”

At the same time, he made it clear: “I trust Trump but I do not trust Putin”, once again emphasizing the need for US security guarantees in any peace agreement, wherever, it is achieved.

Three points for constant and permanent peace

Sir Kir Starmer, however, stressed that constant and permanent peace in Ukraine needs three elements. First, a “powerful Ukraine” that will continue to fight, so that it is in a strong negotiation position, a second element a European presence with security guarantees and third and last support on the American side. He spoke of a joint plan of Britain, France and Ukraine with the aim of stopping war.

It is important to note that the tone of diplomacy, which seems to keep the British side, is also distinguished by the British Prime Minister’s response that he will not choose between America and Europe, “we did not do so after World War II we will not do so now,” he said.

Warm welcome

It is recalled that President Volodimir Zelenski is in Chora since Saturday. Starmer even welcomed him with a warm embrace outside Number 10, and shortly before his presence at today’s Congress of Foreign Leaders he had a scheduled visit to King Charles III.

The British press is in favor of Ukraine, with the British headlines adorned with the embrace of the two leaders, while additional star -Zelenski signed a loan of 2.26 billion pounds of additional military aid to Ukraine.

It remains to be seen that the British leader will communicate his plan at today’s crucial conference that will begin at 14:00, local time (16:00, Greece time). Shortly before, he even met – a – tet with Italian Prime Minister George Meloni, who emphasized the “importance of unity in the Western world”.

The meeting in London is also expected to be attended by the Prime Ministers of France, Germany and many other leaders of European countries, the present will be given by Turkish Foreign Minister, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trinto, as well as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
