Romania’s Central Election Bureau has today banned the proceedings of the far -right candidate Kalin Georgkescu to participate in the repetitive presidential election to be held in May.

Georgkescu can now appeal to the Constitutional Court against the rejection of his candidacy, which leaders of hard -core right -wing parties have condemned as undemocratic.

The news of the rejection of Georgkesky’s candidacy, broadcast by Romanian media, caused his indignation in Bucharest.

“Following a decision by the electoral office, protesters broke the gendarmerie cluster attempting to enter the building,” the class forces said, then clarifying that the situation was “under control”.
