European Research Council: € 632 million to researchers for pioneering research

The European Research Council (ERC) has announced the winners of the last round of ERC Consolidator Grants, which aim to support middle-aged researchers to form teams and conduct groundbreaking research in all the scientific disciplines.

Under Horizon Europe, 313 researchers will receive around € 632 million to investigate various scientific issues. They will try, for example, to find ways to enhance the security of computer software, to learn lessons from the history of diplomacy in Southeast Europe, to find ways to treat heart arrhythmias, or to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon society. harnessing the social dynamics of social media. This new round of grants will create approximately 1,900 jobs for postdoctoral fellowships, PhD students and other staff in 189 educational institutions.

Grant recipients represent 42 nationalities and will implement their projects at universities and research centers in the 24 EU Member States and in countries affiliated with Horizon Europe. Under the latter call, 2,652 applicants submitted proposals and 12% of them will receive funding. Grants were awarded equally to male and female applicants.
