Geneva’s informal conference that will take place on March 17 and 18 is a conference of extremely low expectations for any development in the Cyprus issue
Talks are starting on Monday in the context of an informal five -day for the Cyprus issue. Everyone holds a small basket, with the UN hoping to create a new dynamic dialogue.
With the preceding dedication to the bi -zonal bicommunal federation and the infamous Guterres framework, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, goes to the informal five -day Conference on the Cyprus issue. Nikos Christodoulidesas he said in yesterday’s “mini” profession to the Cypriot people.
On the other hand, the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar, goes to Geneva, saying he will repeat before the Greek foreign ministers of Turkey and Britain his fixed position that “the most correct solution for the Cyprus problem is that of the two states”.
Under these facts, the informal Geneva Conference will take place on March 17 and 18 is a conference of extremely low expectations for any development in the Cyprus issue.
Creation
The United Nations also holds a small basket, stressing that the aim of the informal conference is to create a “dynamic” capable of restoring the parties involved to the Cyprus rails.
As Antonio Guterres noted in his invitation to leaders, the aim of the conference is to draw a “forward path”, which “will mark the beginning of a more positive dynamic for the future”.
Given the distance of the sides, due to the withdrawal of the Turkish side to a logic outside the agreed framework, it is estimated that the UN Secretary -General will ask Cyprus new meetings for discussion of confidence building measures to open new roads.
Low expectations but…
Although expectations for results are low, the United Nations is investing in Ankara’s interest in participating in Europe’s security architecture.
The Republic of Cyprus is also investing in this development. President Christodoulides recently revealed a conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, stressing that he had conveyed to Ankara the message that if Turkey wants to participate in the European Defense Organization, Cyprus is ready.
